RKM is currently in the process of the installation of the custom console and A/V equipment for Jimmy Stewart Weather Bus.

Jimmy Stewart’s Weather Bus is a 2000 model 37½ foot Bluebird school bus that will be totally equipped with weather equipment and audio/visual electronics. It will be a mobile classroom used to teach the science of weather to school children in Southeastern Arizona, with a goal of inspiring the pursuit of science. The bus is totally wrapped in weather signage…including suns, clouds, lightning, rain, snow, etc. The Weather Bus WILL BE the classroom. It will seat up to 39 students and is accessible for special needs students. A variety of computers will display weather data on a number of monitors that are built into the front of the bus. A 32 inch LCD monitor, attached to a swing out arm, will be used to display weather graphics to supplement the teaching process. A Davis Instruments 6153 Wireless Vantage Pro2 Weather Console will be built into the display area. This will consist of a console unit and an innovative integrated sensor suite that will be attached to the outside of the Weather Bus. It includes a rain collector with self-emptying bucket, temperature and humidity sensors and an anemometer.
